Purchases, updates, and reinstalling

A purchase is missing

App Store purchases stay with the Apple ID that paid for them. Open Settings and check the name at the top of the screen. It needs to be that same Apple ID.

Then open the App Store, tap your picture, and download the app again from Purchased. If the app shows Restore Purchases, use it while signed in with that Apple ID.

Ask for a refund

Refunds for App Store purchases go through Apple. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple ID that paid, choose the purchase, and send the request. Apple decides.

Update the app

Open the App Store and tap your picture. Pull down to refresh, then tap Update next to the app. You can also open the app’s store page and tap Update there.

Delete the app and install it again

Touch and hold the icon, choose Remove App, then download it again from the App Store with the same Apple ID. Purchases on that Apple ID come back.

Removing the app can erase progress that is stored only on that device. This site doesn’t describe iCloud or any other sync. If that progress matters, email us before you delete the app.

Share a purchase with family

When an app’s App Store page lists Family Sharing, Apple shares it with the family group. Open Settings, tap your name, then Family. Purchase sharing is controlled there, by the family organizer.

How the apps handle data is on the privacy policy. Where an app collects analytics, that page says you can turn it off in the app’s settings.
